Richard Ney is the managing partner in the firm of Ney, Adams & Sylvester in Wichita, Kansas. Richard tried capital cases in Illinois as a public defender from
1980-1984. He moved to Wichita, Kansas, in 1984 to establish and head the first public defender’s office there. Richard served as chief public defender in
Wichita until 1991, when he was appointed chief federal public defender for the District of Hawaii. In 1996, Richard began private practice in Wichita. Richard
was most recently counsel in the case of U.S. v. Alfonso Rodriguez, the first capital case to be tried in North Dakota in more than 100 years.
